Lucy Smith was a nineteen time Canadian Champion and Internationally ranked athlete in triathlon, duathlon, and distance running. She was a versatile endurance competitor having achieved success over a range of events from 5000m on the track to the Ironman distance in triathlon. Since participating in her first fun run in Bedford, Nova Scotia, at age eleven, Lucy developed her athletic career into a passionate full-time pursuit of excellence that rewarded with her two Silver Medals at the World Duathlon Championships, Gold Medals at the Canada Games and Canadian University Championships, and countless podium finishes at international triathlon, duathlon and running competitions. Her accomplishments have been recognized with many National and Provincial "Athlete of the Year" Honours, and she was twice Athlete of the Year while a student at Dalhousie University in Halifax. In 2009 she was inducted in the Dalhousie University Athletic Hall of Fame. In 2017 Lucy was honoured to be inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame.

While maintaining a competitive career, Lucy became the mother of two children in 2000 and 2005, competed at her third and final Olympic Trials in 2004, and gained her second World Championships Silver in 2006, at age 39. Now a prominent masters athlete, Lucy has transcended the world of elite competition to give back to others. A coach, a mentor for active women and girls, a high-energy public speaker, and a freelance writer, Lucy's mission is to spread the joy of sport so others can move past personal boundaries and find personal success.
